Aeronautics and Astronautics Community Research Experience (AACRE)

Main content start

OVERVIEW

Stanford Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics offers a 10-week summer research  program (June 26th to September 1st 2023) that provides community college students with an opportunity to explore careers in research. Students gain an experience that will help strengthen their knowledge, skills and understanding of research methodologies as well as graduate school.

The goal of Aeronautics and Astronautics Community Research Experience (AACRE) program is to provide a unique summer experience that encourages students to pursue studies in engineering.

This year we will run a fully in-person program with students paired with a faculty mentor at one of the research laboratories in Aeronautics and Astronautics. Students can expect to experience research involving engineering design, computational analysis, modeling, and/or simulation, and technical writing such as reports and conducting a literature review. Students work on a research project under the guidance and mentorship of a faculty mentor. In addition to research, students will participate in mentoring meetings, professional development workshops, and a variety of social activities. Students will be required to participate and share in research meetings, and present their research results at a final research symposium in August 2023.
